AI Face Swap for Video and Photos: Character Swap
Put someone else in a photo or a short video: just the face, or the whole person, with the scene around them left as it was.
Open BINAI- You give
- A scene photo or a video up to 10 seconds, and photos of the person to swap in
- You get
- The same scene with that person in it instead, as a new editable scene in your project
- Plan
- Photo swaps on all paid plans; video swaps from Pro; up to 3 people at once from Business
- Cost
- About 28 credits per photo swap; 8 credits per second of video per person (80 for a 10-second video)
How it works
- 1
Upload the scene
Upload a photo, or a video up to 10 seconds. BINAI finds the faces and numbers them, and you can mark anyone it missed.
- 2
Add the new people
Upload photos of each person to swap in. Each photo is checked as it lands, so an unusable one is flagged before you spend credits.
- 3
Drag faces onto people
Drag each new face onto the person it replaces. On a photo, choose full swap or face only; on a video, pick the stretch to swap.
- 4
Keep or swap again
Each swap becomes a new scene in the project. Swap someone else into the same scene anytime, or edit it like any other scene.
What it does
Pose and movement kept
On a video, the person is replaced while their movement, the camera and the background stay as they were. The original sound is kept.
Face only or full swap
On a photo, change just the face or the whole person. The photo keeps its own shape and resolution outside the swapped area.
Other people left alone
Only the chosen person is changed. Other people's faces in the photo are never painted over.
Only change an area
On a photo, paint over what may change with a brush. Everything you do not paint stays exactly as it is.
Pay only for the seconds you swap
On a video, pick the stretch to swap, from 1 second up to the full 10. Only that stretch is swapped and charged.
Up to three people at once
From the Business plan you can swap up to three people in the same scene in one go.
What is AI character swap?
Character swap replaces a person in a photo or a short video with someone else, taken from reference photos you provide. Most people know it as AI face swap, but BINAI can go further than the face: on a video it rebuilds the whole person, and on a photo you choose between the face only or the full person. The scene around them, the pose, the movement and the background, stays as it was.
The result does not overwrite your original. Each swap lands as a new scene in your project, so you can compare, keep the one you like, or swap a different person into the same scene later.
How does BINAI know who to swap?
It asks you. A tool cannot know which person you mean until someone has looked, so the swap happens in two steps.
- Find the people. When you upload the scene, BINAI scans it for faces. On a video it picks the frame that shows the most people. Each face gets a numbered box. If the scan misses someone, tap them to place a box by hand.
- Swap the chosen ones. You add photos of each new person, and each photo is checked as it lands so a blurry or unusable one is flagged before anything is spent. Then you drag each new face onto the person it replaces.
What happens on a photo?
On a photo, BINAI redraws only a crop around the chosen person and blends it back in with a soft edge. Outside that area the photo is untouched: other people's faces are never painted over, and the photo keeps its own shape and resolution. You have three controls:
- Full swap or face only. Replace the whole person, or keep their hair, body and clothes and change just the face.
- Best likeness or Fast. Fast uses about half the credits.
- Only change an area. Paint with a brush over what may change; everything you do not paint stays exactly as it is.
For a better likeness on a photo, add a few clear photos of the person from different angles.
What happens on a video?
On a video, BINAI uses one clear photo per person, with face and body visible, because the video model rebuilds the whole person from it. The model works on the area around that person, and only what changed is laid back over your original footage. Movement, camera and background stay as filmed, and the original sound is kept.
You choose which stretch of the video to swap, from 1 second up to the full 10 seconds. Only that stretch is swapped and charged. When several people are swapped, each one is a separate pass, all running at the same time.
Which plan do I need, and what does it cost?
| Solo | Pro | Business | Studio | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo swap | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Video swap | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| People at once | 1 | 1 | Up to 3 | Up to 3 |
A photo swap uses about 28 credits at Best likeness, and about half on Fast. A video swap uses 8 credits per second per person, so a 10-second video with one person is 80 credits. The cost is shown before you start. Free accounts cannot run swaps, because every swap uses paid AI models. See pricing for the credits in each plan.
Is it legal to swap faces with AI?
The tool is neutral; how you use it is not. The safe rules are simple:
- Get consent. Swap yourself, your team or people who have agreed to it. Using someone's face without permission can break privacy and image rights, and impersonating a real person can be illegal. Our guide on whether AI face swap is legal covers the details.
- Label it. In the EU, realistic AI-generated or manipulated video of people must be disclosed as such. Read what the EU AI Act says about labelling and how to disclose AI content on each platform.
- Do not fake a testimonial. In an ad, a swapped person should not be presented as a real customer. See our guide to AI UGC ads.
Before you post, run the content check, which looks for what tends to get posts shown less or taken down.
How does it fit with the rest of BINAI?
A swap is a scene like any other, so it opens in the editor where you can trim it, add captions, put music under it or place it inside a longer video. It pairs well with a product video when you want your own presenter holding the product instead of a generated one.
What are the limits?
- Videos are limited to 10 seconds per swap. For longer footage, swap the key moment and edit it into the rest.
- Solo and Pro swap one person at a time; Business and Studio up to three.
- On a video, the whole person is rebuilt from one photo, so the photo you choose matters more than anything else. Pick one that is sharp, well lit and shows the face and body.
Who it is for
Brands with a spokesperson
Put your own presenter, with their consent, into a short ad or a product scene instead of a stock actor.
Marketers localising ads
Make versions of the same short video with a different person for each market or audience.
Creators
Put yourself into a scene, or try different looks for a thumbnail or a short.
Small businesses
Reuse a good photo shoot with a team member who joined later, with their permission.
Frequently asked questions
How do I swap a face in a video with AI?
In BINAI, open Character swap and upload a video of up to 10 seconds. BINAI finds the faces and numbers them. Add photos of the new person, drag their face onto the person to replace and pick the stretch to swap. The person is rebuilt from your photo while the movement, background and original sound are kept.
How long can a face swap video be?
A video character swap in BINAI works on up to 10 seconds of footage, and you can limit it to a shorter stretch, down to 1 second. Only the stretch you choose is swapped and charged. Video swaps are included from the Pro plan, while photo swaps are on every paid plan.
What is the difference between face only and full swap?
On a photo, face only changes just the face and keeps the original hair, body and clothes, while full swap replaces the whole person. On a video, BINAI always rebuilds the whole person from one clear photo, so for video choose a photo where both the face and the body are visible.
How much does a character swap cost in BINAI?
A photo swap uses about 28 credits at Best likeness, and the Fast option uses about half. A video swap uses 8 credits per second for each person replaced, so a 10-second video with one person is 80 credits. The cost is shown before you start, and credits come from your monthly plan.
Is AI face swapping legal?
Swapping yourself, or someone who has given you permission, is generally fine. Using another person's face without consent can break privacy, image rights and platform rules, and passing a swapped video off as real can be deceptive. In the EU, realistic deepfakes must be labelled as AI-generated. Always get consent and disclose the swap.
Can I swap more than one person in the same video?
Yes, from the Business plan. Business and Studio can swap up to three people in one scene at once; Solo and Pro swap one person at a time. On a video each person is a separate pass, so the credits scale with the number of people swapped.
